A peek into the World of Professional Cycling

Welcome to a new season of thrilling sprints, heartbreaking crashes, teeth shattering cobbles and glorious mountains. Today, we're taking you behind the scenes of the training camp in Spain, and we are taking a closer look at some of the changes for the upcoming season.

Picture this: the sun-drenched landscapes of Spain, the sounds of gear shifters, free wheels purring and the squeaking of disc brakes. We are in Spain and the Lotto Dstny team is getting ready for a new season.

In the beginning of every year the team goes to Spain for a training camp, It is the one time of the year where everyone is in the same place. Here the team makes all the necessary preparations for the upcoming season and adjust to new material, kit and members of the team.

The most notably changes are the updated look on the jersey. We have built on last years design added some fine tuning. the new jersey has a blue gradient to make it more dynamic, we also made som changes to the orange stripe, which is now an arrow shape. The Dstny slogan "business communications today and tomorrow" is now also visible on the jersey. We are excited to see the jersey in action here in Spain and so far the feedback has been positive.

But it's not just about the jerseys. It's about the machines that carry the riders to victory—the transition to top-of-the-line Orbea bikes markes a new chapter. Orbea is from  Basque Country and has a long history spanning back to 1840 when they began as a rifle and gun manufacturer. They have been part of the cycling world since 1930 and is well renowned especially for their climbing bikes that are light and stiff, a perfect combo for the mountains. I can't wait to see it in race action!

Enter Zipp wheels—These wheels are more than mere tools; they embody the pinnacle of cycling technology. They need no introduction for the enthusiasts but they might not know that Zipp origins are in motorsport, no wonder they are fast... The wheels are known to be at the top of the food chain when it comes to wheels, it's the dream of all cyclists to mount a pair of these on the bike. The aerodynamics and lightness of these are amazing.

Beyond the gear, BMW has entered the team to supply vehicles and the mobile HQ bus. The model.... is not only comfortable but a beast on the roads. That is what the team needs on twisting and narrow roads in the mountains, hellish cobbles and weather. The smooth ride in difficult conditions makes the job in the car much easier.

 

 

We also welcome some new additions to the team rooster:

  • Logan Currie, TT specialist with GC-ambitions from Nya Zeeland.
  • Danish Jonas Gregaard joins the team from UNO-X.
  • New in the ladies team are Dutch Thalita de Jong and American junior road and ITT champion, Samantha Scott.
  • We also welcome Tony Gallopin back, he rode for the team 2014-17. Now he will be the Assistant Sports Director.
